- FindArticles.com Indexes about 300 reputable titles
from 1998 to the present,
searchable, completely free & full text, can email/print results. Excellent
value.

- MagPortal Indexes about 140 titles, the archive is
approximately one year deep, many special features like marking &
annotating articles, completely free & full text , articles are
annotated, can email/print results. Because of the special features
mentioned above, it has great value for teachers.

Scholarly Journal Collections
- Scholarly Journals Distributed via the WWW Compiled
by the University of Houston Libraries, the site lists web based scholarly and
e-journals with full text content that are in English and that do not require
registration or fees, the site is not searchable, but one can browse by title.

- Smithsonian
The magazine is searchable from 1987, though one only has access to full text
articles from 1995 on. But from 1995 one seems to get full text of most, if
not all, of the magazine. Search tips available. One can browse by date.
Smithsonian magazine also features an image gallery where one can view the
work and biographies of contributing artists and photographers. "Journeys"
features travel stories from the magazine and these articles link to literary
works, travel tips, and more, related to that "journey".

B) Useful for archive searching or special features, must pay for archived full text
- The Economist.
Mainly premium content, but so many fabulous special features. Go to Print
Edition for some full text from the last 5 issues. Features include
links to Research tools, Country briefings, City guides, and business
biographies.

Archived back to 1997. Current issue full text, free registration gives access
to "recent" issues (current year?), paid subscription or order to view

- National Geographic magazine.
No full text, even from the current issues, but some nice feature available.
Can search full index 1888 to present. Abstracts of articles link one to
useful Web links and a bibliography on the topic.

Newspapers
Most newspapers allow searching of up to a weeks worth of full text -
thereafter one must usually pay for the full text article. Sometimes free
registration is required to access even the past weeks files.

Features 125
front pages from 20 countries and different states (listed alphabetically,
i.e. first papers from Australia, then Austria, and so on.) Very interesting
to see how different countries/states present the same headlines, or what
different countries choose to feature/ignore as headline worthy. No more than
the front page is available. One clicks on the tiny thumbnail to get a larger
view, and ,ultimately, one can open a readable pdf version of the front page.
One can also browse by state/country. From the Washington D.C. Newseum. The
days pages are available on the website by 9:30 each morning. The Cyber
Newseum site also features exhibits and tools for educators are available.
